About Lauren

Lauren is the founder and heart behind Lucky Tiles Mahjong and The Atelier. Lauren’s love for mahjong began at the table where she was attracted by the rhythm of the game, the shared focus, and the connections that naturally form as you play a round of mahjong. What kept her coming back wasn’t just the strategy, but the friendships, laughter, and community that naturally grows with every game played.

She established The Atelier to create the kind of space she always wanted to play in—warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed—where players of all levels feel comfortable and inspired. Lauren believes mahjong is at its best when shared, and she is passionate about bringing people together through lessons, open play, leagues, and special events.

Whether she’s teaching a lesson, hosting open play, or greeting players at the door, Lauren’s goal is simple: to introduce new players to the game of mahjong, create a place where people can meet, connect, and enjoy the game they love, one game at a time.

What is Mahjong—and Why Play?

Mahjong is a timeless game of skill, strategy, and intuition, originating in China centuries ago. Played with beautifully crafted tiles, it combines memory, pattern recognition, and tactical thinking, making each game both challenging and deeply satisfying.

But mahjong is more than a game—it’s a way to connect. Whether with friends old and new, in casual open play, or during a competitive league, mahjong encourages conversation, camaraderie, and community. Each round offers moments of focus, excitement, and delight, while also providing a space to relax, engage your mind, and enjoy a shared experience.

Whether you’re seeking a mental challenge, social connection, or simply a new hobby, mahjong offers a rich, rewarding experience that continues to captivate players around the world.
